BUILD YOUR WATCHLIST AND FIND A NEW SECTOR

The best trade you will ever make is one you planned before the opportunity showed up.

This lesson is about building a real target list and making sure your portfolio is not one bad quarter away from a rough year.

A watchlist needs levels

Every stock on your watchlist needs a price level before it belongs there. If you cannot write down the price where you would pull the trigger, it is not a watchlist. It is a wish list.

Build a list of 5 to 10 stocks you want to own next. Add the chart levels before you add the ticker.

Know what sectors you own

List every sector across your current holdings. Be honest about where you are concentrated. If most of your positions are in one sector, you are not diversified. You are making a concentrated bet.

Find the next sector

The market leads the economy by 6 to 9 months. Knowing where we are in the cycle tells you which sectors are setting up and which ones have already had their run.

Find one sector you do not currently own. Find 3 names in that sector. Grade them with the 1-to-4 system. Add the Grade 1s to your watchlist with levels.

ACTION STEP Build a watchlist of at least 5 stocks with chart levels already set for each. List every sector you currently own. Pick one new sector. Find 3 names, grade them, and add the Grade 1s to your watchlist.
